I think my love for toilet roll cosies comes from this:
My nanna used to live seven doors from our house on a busy dual carriageway in Leeds, UK. She had a very sweet looking doll toilet roll cosy, concealing a toilet roll under the frilly skirt. My brother and I used to dare each other to wear it like a hat and nonchalantly walk up the street, past the bus stop and home, which we both did before getting caught! And 25 years later, I’m making my own version. Obviously i don’t wear them anymore…because my head is too big now.
I started making these little chaps for Flour and Stone which is a great cafe/bakery in Wooloomooloo. If you order the boiled eggs, you’ll see these cosies at work, cosying one egg while you eat the other.
